Robert Al-Farsi

Robert Al-Farsi is a British-Omani novelist and former crime reporter who grew up between Portsmouth and Seeb. After studying criminology and Arabic at the University of Exeter, Robert spent several years in Muscat as a translator and stringer covering port expansions, labor disputes, and municipal elections—work that sharpened his eye for the quiet deals that govern public life. He later completed an MA in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, where he began shaping the coastal settings and investigative voices that define his fiction.

Robert Al-Farsi's writing blends procedural detail with the textures of the Arabian Sea littoral. His earlier novels include Salt Harbor and The Tidemark Case, and his essay collection Between Fort and Freight explored memory, migration, and trade along the Gulf. He has received an Oman-British cultural grant for narrative research and taught short courses on place-based storytelling at community arts centers in Muscat and Southampton.
