Linda K. Moore grew up in southern Missouri, where her grandmother's cellar shelves were lined with jars and whispered admonitions. She studied folklore and Appalachian studies at the University of North Carolina and spent a decade as a newspaper copy editor before turning to fiction. Her short work has appeared in regional journals and anthologies, and her story cycle about river towns and revenants won the 2018 Stag Hollow Prize. She lives in Asheville, North Carolina, with her partner and an elderly hound, and teaches community workshops on oral history and narrative craft.
