Robert O'Connor is an Irish American writer and documentary producer raised between Connemara, County Galway, and Camden, New Jersey. After studying journalism and cartography at the University of Montana, he worked as an EMT in Detroit before turning to photojournalism and longform travel features. His essays and reporting have appeared in outlets such as Outside, Pacific Standard, and High Country News, and he has produced field segments for independent streaming series focused on food and culture. O'Connor has lived out of duffels in Kathmandu, Valencia, and a series of Brooklyn sublets, and now splits his time between Portland, Oregon, and the New Mexico high desert, where he volunteers with a local search-and-rescue team.
