Bastiaan Van Dijk

Bastiaan Van Dijk (born 1978, Dordrecht) is a Dutch historian and archivist specializing in water management and early modern industry. He earned an MA in History from Leiden University in 2003 and completed archival training at the Nationaal Archief in The Hague. Van Dijk has curated manuscript collections for the Zuid-Holland provincial archives and served as a research fellow at the University of Amsterdam's Centre for Urban History. His essays on polders, guilds, and wind technology have appeared in Tijdschrift voor Geschiedenis and Low Countries Historical Review, and he has advised the Zaans Museum and UNESCO Kinderdijk on heritage interpretation. He lives in Leiden, cycles the Oude Rijn at dawn, and restores nineteenth-century ledgers in his spare time.
