Dr. Kelly Lawson is a neuroscientist and writer based in Seattle. She earned a PhD in computational neuroscience from UC San Diego and worked on neural prosthetics and brain-computer interfaces at a research institute in the Pacific Northwest before moving into human-robot interaction at a startup in Redmond. Her short fiction and essays on AI ethics have appeared in science and technology outlets, and she mentors youth robotics teams when she is not trail running along the Puget Sound.
