Kwame Vasquez is a Caribbean-Ghanaian author of mythic fantasy whose work blends saltwater lore, mathematics, and migration. Raised between Loíza and Sekondi, he studied applied mathematics at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, and later completed a master's in folklore at the University of Ghana, Legon. Before writing full-time, he taught community navigation workshops for small-boat fishers and mapped oral histories of tides across island communities.
His short fiction has appeared in regional journals and anthologies, and he is the author of the novels Ink Atlas and The Geometry of Rain. He received the Seabright Prize for Speculative Fiction and was a finalist for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. When not writing, Kwame Vasquez volunteers with coastal literacy programs and repairs heirloom sextants in his workshop in Ponce.
