Leila Okoro is a Nigerian speculative writer and former materials engineer whose fiction explores cities, repair, and the strange music of infrastructure. Raised in Enugu and Lagos, she studied ceramics engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University and later completed an MFA at the University of British Columbia. Her short work has appeared in regional journals and anthologies and was longlisted for the Nommo Award for African Speculative Fiction.
Okoro is the author of the novella Salt Glass and the story collection Ansible Rain. She splits her time between Lagos and Vancouver, volunteers with community makerspaces, and teaches workshops on worldbuilding through the lens of design. When not writing, she can be found biking the seawall with a field recorder, collecting the hums and clatters that often find their way into her fiction.
