Alejandra Gupta is a Mexican Indian American novelist and former investigative reporter. Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she studied sociology at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a master's in journalism from Columbia University. Her long-form reporting on unsolved arsons and coastal corruption in the Pacific Northwest won regional honors from the Society of Professional Journalists and inspired her turn to fiction.
She is the author of the mystery novels Ruin Season, The Paper Flood, and The Xenon Motel. An Edgar Award finalist and Strand Critics Award nominee, Alejandra has published short fiction in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and the anthology Hidden in Plain Sight. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her librarian spouse and an elderly greyhound, and teaches narrative nonfiction workshops when she's not researching forgotten case files.
