Richard P. Winters is an American novelist of psychological and crime thrillers. Born in 1978 in Dayton, Ohio, he studied journalism at the University of Missouri and spent a decade as a crime reporter covering midnight police beats and county courts in Cincinnati. After relocating to Oregon in 2012, he trained as an EMT and worked night shifts in Multnomah County while drafting fiction between calls. Winters has published two prior novels, The Sundown Ledger (2018) and Cold Ashes, Bright Water (2021). He lives in Portland with his partner and two hounds, teaches community workshops on narrative craft, volunteers with search-and-rescue, and builds cedar-strip canoes.
