Bryndis Bjarnadottir

Bryndis Bjarnadottir was born in Akureyri, Iceland, in 1984 and grew up between fishing harbors and mountain passes on the north coast. She studied comparative literature and folklore at the University of Iceland and spent her twenties working as a deckhand, museum researcher, and late-night radio producer. Her fiction often blends North Atlantic myth with the grit of working-waterfront life, and her short stories have appeared in Icelandic and Nordic journals. A recipient of a Menntamálaráðuneytið arts grant, she has led community workshops on oral storytelling and coastal memory. She lives in Seyðisfjörður, where she writes beside the fjord and volunteers with the local search-and-rescue team.
