Charles Pemberton

Charles Pemberton is a British crime novelist and former urban planner. Raised in Sheffield, he studied architecture at the University of Liverpool and urban design at the Bartlett, UCL. He spent a decade on regeneration projects along the Thames Gateway before moving into investigative journalism, covering land deals and planning inquiries for regional papers and a London broadsheet. His work blends technical detail with street-level suspense, often exploring how cities are built, bought, and betrayed. He lives in Walthamstow with his partner and a retired greyhound, and mentors first-generation university students entering the design professions.
